(Austin, TX) Cheryl Finfrock creates colorful monotypes portraying an array of mythical characters. Simple, serious, humorous and steeped in Jungian psychology, these works expose a portal into the human psyche. Rich and evocative colors create a field of tension relieved by oases of calm. Animals of whimsical or haunting aspect dialogue with the Unknown in glyphic codes. A symbolic undertone permeates each composition, and the visual language prompts an exploration of everyday symbols standing at the edge of a protean beyond.

 

Cheryl Finfrock’s paintings are highly recognized in national and international collections and have been featured in several publications and television programs.

 

Recent exhibits span US and Europe including New York City, San Francisco, Austin, Berlin, British Columbia, Copenhagen, the Czech Republic, Paris, and Sofia.
